Briefly describe your mission.

Led by four composers, Musiqa’s mission is to enrich and inspire our community through programs that integrate new music with other modern art-forms. With its innovative collaborations and educational programming, Musiqa strives to make modern repertoire accessible and vital to audiences of all ages and musical backgrounds.

Who does your agency help?

Young, emerging, and established artists, including musicians and composers, but also dancers, filmmakers, poets and painters, as well as Houston students in our educational programs.

Why should a City of Houston employee give to your organization?

We are a non-profit arts organization dependent on donations from individuals and foundations. Individual giving is responsible for a significant portion of all of our artistic and educational programming.

What is something unique about your agency?

When we were established 20 years ago, we were the only chamber group in Houston focused on performing only the works of living composers. We are also the only chamber music group currently offering composition courses to students in Title 1 schools in Houston.

Who should City employees contact if they want more information?
